Transforming your bathroom into a steam room is easy and affordable. And the best thing about is you can reap the benefits of heat therapy directly in your home.

Not to mention, having regular steam room sessions can drastically improve your health and well-being.

So, let’s get into it:

Starting with…

The first things that you need to do is optimize your washroom according to your steam room requirements. Make sure your washroom is sealed off from top-to-bottom to keep the steam from escaping. You might have to install a special door with gasket to keep the steam in.

Work on the floor and make sure it is drainage-ready. Keep the height of the washroom up to 8 feet. Next up, work on the walls of the bathroom and install heat-resistant tiles. For the floor, use textured tiles to avoid slipping accidents.

Now that we are done with the optimization, let’s get into the appliances.

Finding the right generator

Finding the right steam generator is essential for enhanced steam room sessions. The generator you choose depends on the size of your bathroom and your personal requirements out of a steam room session.

There are numerous steam generators in the market that you can choose from. Some of the best manufacturers include Mr. Steam, Steamist, Amerec, and Saunatec.

Using proper steam heads

Next up is the choice of steam heads. Steam heads are the outlet from where the steam comes out from in the steam room. There are certain precautions that you must take while installing steam heads. Make sure the steam head is 6-12 inches off from the floor. Install it in an opposite direction of the seating arrangements.

Lastly, make sure you the steam heads are cool to the touch.

The control

The control allows you to control your steam room settings. You can control the amount of steam, temperature, and a lot of other things. You can also optimize your control to access the lighting, sound system, and aromatherapy of your steam room.

Seating

Lastly, your steam room needs to have a seating arrangement because sauna sessions can last up to 45 minutes. Make sure the seat you install is both waterproof and heat resistant. If space is an issue, install a wall-mounted, flip-up seat so you can close them whenever you are done.
